A series of nine races of various distances run through out the year for the “Great Grand Master” club members (50+)
1. To complete the series, a participant must complete five of the nine events.
2. If a participant completes more than five events, only their best five finishes will be used to compute the standings.
3. Cross-country scoring (1 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd, etc.) will be used within each age category. Points from each participants best five finishes will be added together to determine their position in the standings (low score wins). If a person does not participate in a give race they will receive 25 points for that race.
4. To be eligible for the series awards, the participant must be a Howard County Strider (HCS) club member at the start of their first point-scoring race. For example, a non-member runs in the first two races and after the second race decides to join the HCS, only their performances in the next seven races will be used for the standings.
5. There are four age groups, male and female, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64 and 65+.
6. A participant's age group will be determined by their age as of his or her first point-scoring race. For example, a participant runs the first two series races while he or she is 54 years old, the following week they turn 55. This person has the option of dropping the first two series races and competing in the 55 - 59 category in the remaining seven races or staying in the 50 - 54 category for all nine races. This decision must be made in writing by the start of the first race after entering a new age category, whether they participate in that race or not. In other words you can't wait until the end of the season to see in which category you would finish higher.
7. Ties in the standing will be broken by head to head competition, over all best finishes and number of races completed.
8. The standings will be posted on the HCS web site and will reflect all participating club members in the series, even though some may not complete the series.
9. No new participants will be added after the fifth series race.
10. Three awards will be given in each age category, male and female. Awards will be presented at the annual banquet.
