Pekka Stenholm started his running in 1989 after several years of speed-skating and Nordic skiing. More serious distance running fever hit him in year 1996 after which ther was a slight improvement in PRs. In 1997 he was 7th in Finnish XC championships, 5th in half-marathon champs, and 6th in marathon champs.

After the millennium he has had several injuries, but now when he arrived to the USA for two years he's eager for running again. He has been volunteering at the local Athletic club, Turun Urheiluliitto, and at the Finnish Athletics Association. In addition, he is one of the chief editors of the Finnish distance running website www.raasto.com.
