Due to icy conditions at the usual Elkhorn race, runners ran one lap (1.84 miles) or 3 laps (5.52 miles) around Lake Elkhorn.   Top male and female finishers included Brian Bonn, Marsha Demaree, Carlos Renjifo and Karen Young.

Jeffers Hill 12/11/05

Veteran runners, Greg Schuler, John Chall, and Phil Lang were the overall winners. Ginger Rowley, Megan Henly and Norma Walker won the women's race. New weekly runner, Kenneth Blackman, finished 5th in the 2M event. Two of the youngest runners, Eric Shuler (12 yrs) and Travis Bell (13 yrs) ran impressive races and beat many of the more experienced runners.

Thunder Hill 12/4/05

Carlos Renjifo smashed the 1998 record for the Thunder Hill 2 miler with his blistering 10:17 finish. The previous record was 10:34 set by Eric Myers. Robyn Humphrey (3rd place overall) led the field for the women with her 12:40 finish. Grand masters, Mike Fleming (15:10) and Steve Zelenak (15:17), ran well, finishing eighth and ninth. The 10K race was dominated by John Chall and Monica Bachmann. John's 38:18 win was well ahead of 2nd place Bill Stahr. Eric Katkow ran a 57:06 in the 10K and recently completed the JFK 50 miler. Eric has also been marking this course, helping to keep runners from getting lost for 5 years.

Swansfield 5K
11/20/05

Runners of all ages participate weekly at the Striders weekly series races, which are considered fun runs by many. Today, runners ages ranged from 11 to 73 years. Ted Poulos easily outdistanced 2nd place, Craig Morgan, to win 1st place overall. It was a close race between 1st place, Amanda Hodgkinson, and 2nd place, Erin Geoghan, in the women's race.

Burleigh Manor Middle School

Several runners had race at the Striders' Run Through the Grapevine Race earlier in the day, but couldn't resist coming out the another afternoon event on a warm and windy fall day. Greg Hogan was the overall winner. First place Amanda Hodgkinson, our youngest entrant at 12 yrs, traveled from Pennsylvania to compete. Seventy-three year old grand master, Ray Campbell, made the greatest impression with his 36:26 finish.

Thunder Hill Elementary School
10/16/05

Several of today's runners completed their 1st 10K ever, having just graduated from the G.I.R.L. (Getting Inspired to Run For Life) program. Mike Dusenbery won the 2M event after running the Baltimore half marathon the day before. Constantly showing great improvement, Christina Caravoulias claimed the win for the women in the 2M event. Laura Shoemaker took top honors in the 10K race. The top six runners in the 10K race held on to their respective positions for much of the race. Second place, Eric Bell, was closing the gap with overall winner, John Chall. Although narrowly defeated, Eric set a personal best by 3 minutes.

Mike Dusenbery took the overall win in the 2 miler. Eric Bell was close behind. Joey Esposito (5th) ran a great race in a field with tough competition. Jessica Esposito won the 2 mile event for the women. John Chall and Robert Merion won the 10K & 15K races, respectively. Terri Counts may have had the greatest accomplishment- finishing her 1st 10K race ever!

Twelve year old, Erin Geoghan, took win for the women at the 1st race of the HCS fall series, a 5K at Burleigh Manor Middle School. Karsten Brown was the overall winner with a substantial lead over 2nd place, John Chall. Results are not broken down by age; very young runners compete with more experience older runners. Logan Courtright (7 yrs), Steven Eastman (11 yrs), and Andrew Pontius (12 yrs) posted impressive times at this event.
