Oakland Mills Middle School
All Fruit Relay
4 x 2M
May 31, 2004

Sixteen, mostly 4 person teams, competed in this Memorial Day event with fruit batons in hand. A designated runner on teams with 3 participants ran 2 legs. The winning team finished at just over a 6 minute/mile pace with Kevin Betts running 2 of the 4 legs. Several family members supported each other by running on the same team. The Centennial Kumquats had their names emblazoned on their running shirts. "Cherryits of Fire" (1st) and "Hey Mon, Look at that Man-go" (10th) were a couple of the more clever team names. A light mist, not quite rain, accompanied the runners around the course. Participants ranged in age from 7 to 57.

April 11, 2004

Jason Grimm had his 1st weekly series win with his sub 40 minute 10K finish. Nicole Shouse, Ted Poulos and Amanda Hodgkinson also get credit for their wins. Sixty-two year old, Lou Shapiro's, 45:12 finish in the 10K was admirable. Karsten Brown from Front Royal, VA thanked the volunteers for holding this Easter Day race. While doing a web search, he said he couldn't find an event closer than Cleveland.
