Jeff Olenick, holder of numerous weekly race course records, broke his own recent course record by 30 seconds. First time weekly racer, Sarah Maffei (20:48), also took top honors at this event. John Palks (22:27) finished his 55th 5K race for the year. Noah Wood, back from recent injury, looked great with his 6th place 18:48 finish.

Oakland Mills Middle School

Jeff Olenick has set another course record with his 9:45 finish in the 2 miler at Oakland Mills Middle School. The previous record belonged to Ted Poulos (10:33). Jeff established an early lead and increased it throughout the race. Sue Ellen Morakinyo was the other 2M winner. Mothers that ran received chocolate roses. Toni Bluher (17:59), an accomplished runner, celebrated Mothers Day with her daughters, Julia (17:42) and Sarah (17:59).

Sarah Alaei easily outpaced the women with her 18:53 win and set a new course record. Julie Thienel, who arrived at the finish in second place, held the previous course record (18:55). Will Berriel was well ahead of the pack and the overall winner. Karsten Brown celebrated his last race today as a thirty year old.

Jeff Olenick (43:48) smashed Doug Kuderna's old course record (48:29) in the 8M event. Amanda Hodgkinson and Eric Bell were the 2M winners. Mike Brosenne was the overall winner in the 5M race. The last time the Swansfield 5M and 8M races took place before today was in '02. Due to the diligence of the volunteers, no one went off course or got lost. In the past this hasn't always been the case.

Brothers, Jeff & Steve Olenick, nailed 1st & 2nd overall in the 5M race. Grand master runner, Pat Brooks, also gets credit for her win. Amanda Hodgkinson & Eric Bell won the 2M event. Eric said this was his 2nd fastest 2M time. Not many very young runners tackle the long races, but new weekly runners, Megan Lechmann (11 yrs) and Marissa Lechmann (9 yrs), ran extremely well.
