Swansfield ES
August 13, 2003

Tom Williams and Nicole Shouse were the winners. The weather was hot & humid. Many fast times were recorded on this course noted for it's hills. Tom Williams' time is a new course record. His time is particularly impressive... not only because the weather was less than ideal, but because the old record (16:57) was set by another great runner, Jeff Olenick. Congratulation Tom!! Several new weekly runners were present including Rhiannon Fadeyibi, an experienced runner who was very pleased with her 31:26 finish.

Wincopin Trail

In two previous attempts at this race, confusing turns caused the runners to go off course. This time, everyone was able to keep on track thanks to Tim Beaty who took the time to mark the course beforehand. Runners commented on the beautiful scenery and treacherous hills.

Summer series races are often family time. Recent Columbia residents, Paige, Ethan and Evan Eckley ran the 2 mile race with mom & dad cheering them on. Congratulations to new weekly series runner, Tiana Coll, a member of the Females in Training (FIT) program for her 18:51 finish. Amanda Hodgkinson's 15:43 is a new personal record. Spring series award winner, Brian Schuler, bit off the 6 mile distance for the first time.
