The Operation Iceberg Series finished today with springtime weather. This series was the best attended in recent years, averaging over 70 runners per race and drawing many new participants every week. Howard County Strider, “Youth Runner of the Year”, Elyse Borisko, led the women easily in the 2M race. Gloria Roberts and Breanna Adams also took high overall places, just behind Elyse. Katie Breitenbach was right up there in the overall rankings as 1st female finisher. It would be unusual but not surprising to see Katie as overall winner at a future race. Ted Poulos & Mark Breitenbach took the overall wins. Awards were given out to the series winners consisting of a 6 pack of Gatorade, a jumbo chocolate bar and a pack of flower or vegetable seeds to celebrate Spring! Kathleen Wegner and her 2 sons, Michael & Kevin, were all 1st time award recipients for their astonishing performance this season.
