Jeff Olenick smashed the old course record by more than 2 minutes in the 10K race. Mehdi Addadi and eleven year old, Brittney Rooks, won the 2 mile event. We had a good turnout, despite the cool, wet weather. Mary Sanders took 2nd place in the 10K at her 1st weekly race. The Easter Bunny (Jeanne Larrison) appeared with treats for all the finishers. Paul & Becca Smartschan, were celebrating the 1st day of their marriage at this race. They were married last night in Berkeley Springs, WV and were passing through town.

A new course record was set for the Longfellow 15K by Mike Colaiacovo. The old record was Bobby Van Allen's 55:30 set in '01.
Mike was the top Howard County Strider and 4th overall in the recent RRCA 10 Mile Challenge. Julie Thienel took 1st place also in the 15K, but was about 2 minutes off her previous course record. Ted Poulos and Alison Suckling were the 2M winners. Alvin Yew and Amelia Ingersoll were the 10K winners.

New weekly race participants took top honors. Will Berriel and Paul Hannsen took 1st and 2nd place overall. Jennifer Chichester and Beth Links were the top women. Although no course records were broken, many fasts times were recorded with more than half the racers finishing in less than 24 minutes.

No other runners were in sight as Mark Romiti finished first overall in the 2M race. Katie Harman was the 1st female by a substantial margin with Tiffany Lang and Amanda Hodgkinson not far behind. Christina Caravoulias has been moving steadily up the ranks and was rightfully pleased with her 17:42 time. Eric Makovsky hit the 1st mile at 5:15, and steadily increased his lead to win the 5M event by more than a minute. Frequent winner, Nicole Shouse, took the lead for the women with her 35:11 finish.

First time weekly runner, Eric Makovsky, outpaced Hugh Harris to win the 10K race by a narrow margin. Julie Thienel and Nicole Shouse were the top women in the 10K. Vicki Lang and Mehdi Addadi were the 15K winners. All of the female racers in the 15K turned in impressive times with Kathy Hibbert and Toni Bluher taking 2nd and 3rd place. Eighty-six finishers braved the Longfellow hills on this temperate winter day. Although Luis Diaz trailed Hugh Harris throughout the race, he out-kicked him near the finish to win the 15K event. Toni Bluher (4th overall) won the women's 15K race. Katie Arcieri (16:37) and Angie Holmes (17:15) were the top female finishers in the 2 miler. Greg Schuler was the men's 2 mile winner. Seth Geoghegan and Carrie Selmer won the 10K race.
