Kayla Campasino

Kayla started racing in her early 20s; she did not compete in high school or college. She started running for fitness and decided to try a four mile race. Kayla was instantly hooked and began running road races in 2009. She lived in Washington State for two years which inspired her to start trail and ultra running in 2016. Kayla viewed her biggest accomplishments as breaking three hours in the marathon where she finished first female at the New Orleans Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, and recently moving up to the 50 mile distance in trail running where she placed 7th overall female at the 2020 USATF 50 Mile National Trail Championships. Kayla enjoys training to race as competitively as she can and is always striving to become a better athlete than she was the year before. Kayla is new to Howard County Striders, so this year she is looking forward to building friendships and training with fellow members. She would also like to become a stronger competitor in trail and ultra races later this year. In the long term, Kayla is working towards qualifying for the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials and eventually like to compete at UTMB in Chamonix, France.
