Next Step 10K & 10M Training Program
Looking to train for a 10K or 10M race this year? Join the Howard County Striders for one of their prestigous training programs! We have decided to combine the Next Step 10K and Next Step 10 Mile programs this year.
We will be meeting in smaller groups to meet the guidelines for COVID-19 social distancing. Masks will also be required.
The program will be capped at 100 participants. HCS will also be monitoring COVID guidelines and will adjust as needed to remain in compliance of any/all group gathering requirements for the County. We ask that all participants be cognizant of this in order to be flexible with groupings as needed.
Training Program Structure
The Next Step 10k/10 Mile Program has three tracks for runners of varying abilities. Participants will do a 5K time trial on March 17 so coordinators can group participants with those of similar abilities.
Weekly training runs will involve a variety of running techniques including speed work and hill work to improve running performance
