Next Step 10K & 10M Training Program
Looking to train for a 10K or 10M race this year? Join the Howard County Striders for one of their prestigious training programs! We have decided to combine the Next Step 10K and Next Step 10 Mile programs this year.
The program will be capped at 50 participants. [2022 SOLD OUT as of 20-Mar-2022]
Training Program Structure
The Next Step 10K/10M Program is for runners of varying abilities. Participants will do a 5K time trial on March 29th so coordinators can group participants with those of similar abilities.
Weekly training runs will involve a variety of running techniques including speed work and hill work to improve running performance
All runners must be able to run 3 miles before starting the program.
Training Program Location
The program will meet at Wilde Lake High School. Nearby running routes include:
- Lake Kittamaqundi
- Howard Community College
- Wilde Lake neighborhoods
- Paths at the beginning of the Bagel Run
Training Program Dates
The program meets on Tuesdays starting on April 5 and ending on June 7. Participants will do a 5K time trial on March 29 so coordinators can group participants with those of similar speeds. We run when it rains, but not when there is lightning or thunder!
Pricing
The program fee is $50. The cost covers:
- 10 weekly training sessions with experienced coaches
- Weekly communication with coaches
- Premium with Striders/Next Step logo
